How to Disable or Enable Various Alerts in Internet Explorer?

Here is the list of alerts that you often see in the Internet Explorer while browsing; The steps to disable them are given at the bottom of each message. Note that, disabling these items compromise your security in a way. So, don’t disable them unless you understand the risks:

1. “This page contains both secure and nonsecure items.

Do you want to display the nonsecure items?

Yes     No    More info”

To disable this alert, go to ‘Internet options’ – ‘Security’; Highlight ‘Internet’ and click ‘custom level’;

Under ‘Miscellaneous’, check ‘enable’ for ‘Display mixed content’

2. The current Web page is trying to open a site in your

Trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this?

Current site: ‘sitename’

Trusted site: ‘sitename’:

Warning: Allowing this can expose your computer to

security risks. If you don’t trust the current web page,

choose No.

To disable this alert, go to ‘Internet options’ – ‘Security’; Highlight ‘Trusted sites’ and click ‘custom level’;

Under ‘Miscellaneous’, check ‘enable’ for ‘Websites in less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone’

3. This website wants to run the following add-on:

‘Addon name’. If you trust this website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here…

Under ‘Activex controls and plug ins’ check ‘enable’ for ‘Automatic prompting for Activex controls’

4. ‘Pop up blocked, To see this pop up or additional options, click here’

Go to ‘Internet options’ – ‘Privacy’; Click ‘Settings’ near ‘pop up blocker’;

Uncheck ‘Show information bar when a pop up is blocked’

5. ‘To help protect your security, Internet explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options’

To disable this alert, go to ‘Internet options’ – ‘Security’; Highlight ‘Internet’ and click ‘custom level’;

Under downloads’ click ‘enable’ for ‘Automatic prompting for file downloads’
