How do you know if you have a kidney stone? Well, outside of going to get an ultrasound, the only way to even suspect that you have a kidney stone is by the symptoms. In most cases, kidney stones are characterized by pain in the upper back all the way down to the lower abdomen. Usually there will be blood in the urine. You may even suffer from nausea and vomiting. Occasionally, you will have fever and chills.
